Mecom’s German division, operating under the names of Berliner Verlag and Hamburger Morgenpost, has a leading market position in Berlin and Hamburg (the first and second most densely populated urban areas in Germany) with 43 per cent and 14 per cent of their respective newspaper markets.

The German division also operates 10 websites, including Netzeitung.de. It has one printing plant in Berlin which prints both Group and third-party publications, as well as a customer call centre. In the Berlin and Hamburg areas, with a combined population of over 5 million, the division’s publications have a readership of more than 3 million every week and its online operations attract more than 3 million unique users per month.
