History & Heritage

Edda Media dates back to 1983, when Orkla ASA entered into the media market. During the 1980s and 1990s, the company acquired a number of smaller, independent newspapers and local television channels throughout Norway.

In 2006, Mecom Group plc acquired Orkla Media ASA. Orkla Media changes its name to Edda Media AS in October 2006.

The oldest title within Edda Media, Drammens Tidende, was established 176 years ago in 1832, while all the other dailies have more than 100 years' heritage constituting their positions in their local municipals. Østlandets Blad celebrated their 100-year anniversary in 2008.
