Media Regionalne

In 2006, Mecom Group plc acquired Orkla Press Polska, the Polish division of Orkla Media, founded in 1996, as part of the Orkla Media acquisition in Norway. The rebranding of Orkla Press Polska started in 2007 and the group is now called Media Regionalne.

Media Regionalne is transforming and merging its legal entities into one organisational structure, with one board and managing directors in each of the regions it operates.

Presspublica

The history of the Rzeczpospolita daily dates back to the pre-WWII period. With the change of political system in Poland in 1989, the Rzeczpospolita daily turned from a 'government paper' into an independent, opinion-forming daily.

The Presspublica was set up in February 1991. It was established by the Rzeczpospolita State Publishers and Presse Participation Europennes of Robert Hersant (France). In 1996, the French stake was acquired by the Norwegian group Orkla (Orkla Press Polska) and the Rzeczpospolita State Publishers became a minority stakeholder. Effective from March 2005, it was transformed into State Treasury-owned Rzeczpospolita State Publishers SA. In 2006, the Norwegian stake was acquired by Mecom Group plc.
